Descripton of settings

  • Show Probe Test Form: If enabled, shows a test form upon entering INPUT READINGS form or PROBE READING form. The test form allows a quick test of the probe to be completed before actually reading the route. Several sample reads can be taken on meters before the route is started. Test meters in the meter shop can be used just to verify all of the equipment is functioning properly. It is recommended you leave this choice enabled to verify the probe and handheld are communicating before getting to far away from the meter shop.

  • Port: Bluetooth to connect the probe to the handheld wirelessly. Serial Port to use a cable between the handheld and probe.

  • Address: Only appears if a Bluetooth port is selected. If the Serial Port is selected, the Address field is hidden. The address of the probe can be obtained from the probe (see below). There are 12 characters (hexadecimal 0-9, A, B, C, D, E, F). Any other characters are not permitted.

  • Probe: Only 2 probe types are supported. Logicon or MetrePro. Logicon is also known as the Northrop Gruman Versaprobe. Select the appropriate probe type.

  • Baud: Choice is only enabled if the Port is set to Serial Port. This choice will be hidden if Serial Port is selected.

  • After make the selections, tap Ok to save the changes or tap Cancel to abandon the changes.

    Finding the probe's Bluetooth address

The probe will have to be charged somewhat before you can use it. Charge if necessary.

Press and hold the probe's trigger for about 12 seconds. The display will change several times. You will see asterisks on the display from left to right on the second line. Continue to hold the trigger. A list of protocols will be displayed. Continue to hold the trigger for another 6 seconds until the display reads: RELEASE BUTTON NOW. Release the trigger button and the display will change to INITIALIZING RADIO.

The probe will then reveal its address. For example, a probe would show BDA=006057010F78. The address to be set in the Probe Setup form is 006057010F78.

The probe will count down from 300. This is sufficient time to enter the address in the handheld. You may find bringing up the on-screen keyboard along the bottom input area would be helpful to enter the complete address. Either type on abc or 123 to bring up the keyboard. If using the keyboard, press Ok after the entry. There are only 12 characters in the address.
